Parents: Deuteronomy 6:4-7
says "The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all
your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These
commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress
them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when
you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." This
doesn't mean daily sermons. It describes a parent and child discovering
something in nature together just as Jesus did in His day when he talked about
the lilies of the field and the sparrows. This book will help you answer
questions and guide a discussion about something you see on TV or read in a
science book. Teaching your child to trust God's Word is the best
foundation you can lay for his life. |

Home-School Parents: CREATION
CLUB IDEA BOOK is a carefully prepared curriculum for your child's science
studies. The resource page will take you to excellent web sites and
publishers which will provide materials that are both biblically and
scientifically accurate. A group of home school families could use the
book as the basis for a field trip or unit study together. Most natural
history museums give only the evolutionary interpretation of data. You can
use the same displays to highlight God's wise designs. |
|
|
Camp Directors: God's
creation should be the centerpiece of the Christian camp experience. Being
out of doors provides perfect opportunities for counselors and camp leaders to
share the wonder of creation. Creation Club Idea Book is a durable spiral
bound handbook that fits into a counselor's backpack. It would be useful for
morning devotions, question and answer time or going for a hike in the forest.
Arts and Crafts Leaders or Recreation Leaders could correlate their activities
with featured themes. Resource page lists a source for Moody Science
videos, great for rainy day showings. |
|
|
Club Leaders: Capitalize on the
children's natural interest in living things. Bible stories about people
are important, but you could also elaborate on the animals, birds, insects, and
even dinosaurs (called by other names) found in the Bible. Truths about
the water cycle, or dispersal of seeds, show how God planned and provided for
all the needs of the people He created. Your club may be the only place a
child hears about these things. |

|
Church Leaders: II Timothy
3:15-17 says "...from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able
to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All
Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and
training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for
every good work." Notice that the path to good works started in childhood
with Scripture and Scripture starts with "In the beginning God created the
heaven and the earth." Sunday School or Vacation Bible School leaders should
provide students with the details of Genesis 1-11 which give us a picture of of
the character of God and the consequences of sin as well as an understanding of
the earth as we see it today. CREATION CLUB IDEA BOOK supplies ideas on
how to teach these truths in fresh, creative ways. |

Librarians: According to national library policy standards, librarians should provide materials for varying interests as well as balanced presentations of controversial subjects. There is no doubt that current newspaper and magazine articles are strongly biased in favor of evolution theory. Sometimes students complain that although teachers assign papers on the creation/evolution debate, there are no research materials on the creationist position. Since there are thousands of reputable scientists who publish books and articles questioning evolution science conclusions, it seems reasonable that these views be included in public libraries. Creation Club Idea Book should be included with other nature studies for children, especially in church and Christian school libraries. |

Why Teach Creation Science to Children

Discovering facts about the earth and its creatures is fascinating and fun for children and adults alike. There is no end to observing the colors, designs, textures, smells, and functions of the world around us. From electron microscope pictures of the smallest units to the almost infinite telescopic reaches of space there is beauty and purpose. If there were no other reasons than this to explore science, it would be worthwhile.
From a social perspective there are many issues linked to the origin and purpose of life. If we are just mammals evolved by chance from lower life forms, humans have no reason to live morally or according to laws of God. Instinct, environmental influences, and self-centered direction are the driving forces of this world-view. “Survival of the fittest” theory excuses racism and manipulation or even annihilation of other humans. Human life is no more valuable than animal life. We see social ills increase as society rejects the premise that “all men are endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights such as life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
From a personal
perspective, the self esteem of every child needs the knowledge that he is
special, loved and accepted, and designed for the purpose of pleasing God and
serving others. The DNA in each living thing is marvelous because it provides
instruction for all the needs and purposes of the life of that creature. As a
child learns about the intricate plan for the function of his own body he
realizes the value of a healthy life-style.
Providing spiritual training for a child is the most important factor for a successful life. The thoughts, values, decisions, words and actions humans experience flow out of the heart and soul of that person. Studying creation provides a foundation for belief in a wise and loving God as well as confidence in the Word of God and the life messages it declares.
Most children today are indoctrinated with evolution in the media, public school classroom, national parks, and science books. Before they can believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ, they need a foundation of truth that they are special creations of the living God and therefore accountable to Him.

About Connie Crossman
My childhood was full of out door adventures exploring the brook, pond and woods
around my house. I collected wild flowers, caught frogs, and stirred up
ant hills. Although I didn't go to church, I somehow knew there was a
Creator. When I heard about Jesus it was not hard to trust Him as my
Savior. My interest in God's creation and children's ministry grew during high
school and college. One summer I was asked to teach nature at a Christian
camp. That year I wrote a simple curriculum to fulfill a biology
assignment; this became the acorn out of which Creation Club Idea Book grew.
A lifetime of teaching children as a pastor's wife, VBS director, Pioneer Girls
Leader, camp counselor and director, and teacher's aide in public and Christian
schools has been the fertile soil out which the ideas have sprouted. My husband
and I have visited natural history museums, dug for fossils, gone bird
watching, and explored caves with our family. We have a wide selection of
books and videos on the issues of creation/evolution controversy. I have
written this book to pass on to the next generation some of the wonderful
treasures God has given me.
