12.02.2007 : Begin
02.12.2008 : Last Update

There is much talk and speculation about the Mayan Calendar and the fact
that it ends at a seemingly inexplicable date such as December 21, 2012.
Winter Solstice. That time that marks the shortest day of the year.

Much was made of the approaching year of 2000. People the world over
made reference to the year 2000 either as and end time date or the date
with which we should look to for a new beginning. Really. Y2K. Computers
stop working. Billions spent in order to ensure we did not feel the ill effects
of Y2K. Planes falling out of the sky. Elevators stopped working. Subways
running down the tracks uncontrollably. Doom and gloom was supposed to
greet us on the first day of 2000.

As I recall, it wound up being a pretty normal day. A lot of people were
surprised they didn't awake to disaster. Some even disappointed, if you
can believe that. Throughout human history there is this inherent need
by many to become caught up in some sort of wishful thinking that man-
kind is going to get caught up into some sort of doomsday prophecy.

Someday mankind will face disasters much worse than anything we can
possibly imagine. Yes. One day. Will December 21, 2012 be that day?
Why was the calendar ended on that precise day. Ancient man knew far
more about mankind's relationship to astronomy and astrology than we do
today. They respected and could read the signs. We are a part of the
natural universe and the laws of that universe apply to mankind just as they
apply to any single thing in the universe. Everything in existence is along
for the same ride. So... what does 122112 mean? Why that date? Why on
the solstice?

There are thousands upon thousands of articles that have been written in
order to make people believe, or favor, one concept over another. I would
rather have you believe in the conclusion that you alone arrive at after you
have done your research into the mystery.

Frankly, I honestly believe the Mayans were remarkably intelligent people
that had a vast understanding of the world and universe around them. They
respected the natural world and created a society and civilization that
functioned very well within the natural world. And then somewhere, as all
civilizations eventually do, they fell apart. Their civilization dissolved. My
believe is that when their elders worked on their calendar they simply
decided to create an end date for the calendar with the express intention
of creating a new calendar to continue where the old one left off when the
time came to create it... OR could it be that this date represented the end
of a cycle with which they could simply repeat the old calendar? Change
the dates and start the calendar over again? I have not looked into this as
yet but could it be plausible? Could either of these statements be true?

We do know that disaster will one day strike. Odds favor that it occur someday.
Is December 21, 2012 that day? Personally, I am not a doom and gloom kind
of person but I have to acknowledge that one day something big and nasty
will invade our day and disrupt our civilization... if not destroy it altogether.
That day will come. I can only hope it is total and complete and that it can
happen with such amazing speed as to not cause people and animals to
suffer needlessly. Our life on the planet is fleeting and ours will be replaced
by other life... most likely. We are merely a part of that cycle of life that must
one day end.

Perhaps there is far more to the Mayan's understanding of those cycles than
we understand. I have always found it amazing that such universal understanding
of the world and universe could simply become lost over the ages. How does
such important information get lost or misplaced? Does it happen because a
society much like ours simply gets dumber down to the point it can't manage
to preserve information because it is not understood or determined to be
somehow irrelevant?

During that time there were parallel civilizations inhabiting the planet on
different continents. Did they manage to communicate with one another?
Stretch your mind and see if you can sense they may have had a connection
with one another. Is it plausible? If so, how did they do it? What led them to
make December 21, 2012 the last day on their calendar?

I would like to include links on this page that will offer many sources of information
with which you can form your own opinions. With certainty we can know that this
may be an important milestone in human history with regard to the understanding
of a long ago diminished civilization. Mayans are still on the earth today but not
as a formidable civilization as it once was... nor can any of them tell you what
happened to that civilization with any degree of certainty. What happens? Just
how does that information seemingly disappear overnight?

Open your mind. Learn. Absorb. Change. Adapt. The world is for discovery. You
can influence outcomes. Shape policy. Learn new things. Develop new strategies.
Embrace idealism. Volunteer and advocate. You can also PREPARE! 122112
Will this day be one to prepare for? What will we be capable of after this date?
Could this date also indicate a coming of age? The arrival of an important mile-
stone? The second coming? The end? The awakening? So many questions with
far too few answers. We know the Mayan calendar ends on December 21, 2012
but nothing has been found that would indicate the reason why! Why? Is it so
horrible or fantastic that it is supposed to come as a surprise to us?
Was it a joke? Nah... it is when the Aliens are going to invade the Earth.

Open to suggestion... always in all ways.
