You may ask yourself, What advantage is there in knowing the time of the sunrise or sunset in R/C flying? I like to test my flying skills in the wind as much as the next guy, but the best or most calm part of the day to fly is either in the morning or at dusk. The wind usually calms down and planes fly much better. This can be a very important factor for a beginner whose learning to fly or when you are test flying a new plane or just getting back to flying after not flying for a while. Knowing this will allow you to maximize the quality flying time that you have at the field. The links below show the sunrise / sunset times for Pittsburgh, PA. ( We are so close to Pittsburgh, that these times are the same for Altoona. ) The calendars also give the times of the moon rise and moon set for those who like to watch the stars.
