NEWS FLASH! Badly made small cars: Not Safe!

Of course, although it seems like it's cheaply made small cars that seem to do bad in the Institute for Highway Safety's offset crash test, you know that the story was being spun to say that ALL small cars were dangerous. I wish I had the video clip but yes, one of the morning national network news shows did just that. They spun the whole story to say that small cars were of course more dangerous, silly. They even used a clip from the spokesman from the Institute for Highway Safety saying that "Of course, you're in more danger in a smaller car", but what my keen ear heard, was that the sound bite was not even a complete sentence. What was the rest of the sentence? My guess is that you're in more danger in a smaller car when a larger car/truck hits you. Of course, does the same rule apply to every small car? No. Does the same rule apply to every large car/truck? Again, no.

But heck, why bother with the full truth?

MINI Updates...

Long time no see, huh?

Well, I finally got a chance to see some of the new updates to the MINI, and let me say, that they look much better in person. I like the new front end of the Cooper, the one-piece dash, and I'll admit, even the new tail lights don't look half bad. Next time I'll make sure to see something in person before I comment on how it looks, because pictures just don't do the changes justice. I do wish they would have keep the old headlight design, just improved it with the new glass. I like the crystal clear look of the new design, I just wish that they had kept the semi-old school look of the first design. I'm also not happy at all about the stick shift knob. Of course, it's not bad, it's just seems like a de-evolution of the older design.

Oh, and that $1200 dashboard? Wow. Although I'm in no way a big fan of CF, wow. It's worth every penny.

Not that I'm breaking new ground or anything....

but being sick sucks. Being sick and in the hospital doubly so. (Don't worry, I'm (slowly) getting better) I haven't even had the energy to drive the Mach Four anywhere. Today was different. Granted, I HAD to drive, in order to get more blood sucked out of me, so it's not like I had the strength to go for a joyride. But still, after not driving for almost a week (a miserable week), it was second only to driving my MINI home the first day.

So MINI owners, and really, anyone else that loves their car that stumbled on over here, go for a drive for the fun of it. Let's take a fast turn because it's fun. Let's chirp the tires once for good measure. Let's not forget to enjoy our cars, because when you're sick and miserable, even a quick jaunt can put a smile back on your face.

Keep track of your favorite blogs, the easy way...

I'll admit, I'm quite the rookie when it comes to RSS feeds, which is one of the reasons it took me so log to get a feed up and running here. But now, I'm starting to realize how easier things are when you start subscribing to feeds. Add to that, thanks to Mark over at GoMotoring.com, I am now a RSS feed junkie. What he pointed me to was Bloglines, a free web-based RSS reader. If you're new to RSS feeds, or if you just don't feel like installing yet another piece of software on you computer, I HIGHLY suggest that you also set up an account on Bloglines.
