Which Distribution FAQ

Version 4.4.5

The primary version is broken up into several pages and is therefore not fit for printing. If you want a printable version you can find it here. You can also find an OpenOffice.org 1.01 version here. And for those who need an MS Office version you can find it here. You can also find a mirror of these files located here.

Any of the following distributions can be recommended for desktop use. They differ mainly in software package handling and each has its own configuration tools. Software wise they are all about the "same".

NOTE: Software targeted at one, or only a few, Linux distributions can usually be run on other distributions provided the necessary libraries are installed. In many cases distributions released in the same timeframe provide the same libraries so this might not even be a concern. Most distributions can be downloaded as ISO from LinuxISO.
