CURRENT PROJECTS . . .

Line A – Asian koi were received in April of 1998. This line was used as an outcross for other lines. I currently maintain this line for future use. I may totally replace this line in the future if an exceptional Asian line is discovered.

Line A Update 12/12/04:  – This line has been somewhat neglected over the past couple of years.  I kept my best breeders, but decided to do only periodic spawns and raise small numbers of fry.  This line was producing very good body coverage, but the color was consistently light orange.  The line has been steadily improving, although the fry pictured below are by far the best fish selected from the latest spawn.  The photos show a group of ten week old Line A (Asian ancestry) Koi that are being raised with a few Line C/D Sunsets.  I don't raise Koi from different lines together.  In most cases it is too hard to tell the lines apart, but I can do it with sunsets if I'm tight for tank space.

Line A Update 2/22/07:  – Many of the juvenile fish pictured above, were raised and crossed to line C/D fish.  Results of most spawns were not exceptional.  One of the sunsets pictured above, turned into be a beautiful male.  He produced some nicely colored offspring which I kept.  I will hold these fish and decide what to do with them at some time in the future.  I am still keeping an eye out for a high quality fish from Asia.  Some of my fish have been sold to Asian breeders in past years, so it is possible that a fish returning from an Asian country could be related to my stock.  I do, however, highly respect many of the breeders from other countries and expect that any outcrosses that have been done would make these fish interesting to work with.
