North Country LIFE FLIGHT is a not-for-profit air medical program established in the Adirondack Region of northern New York State.
LIFE FLIGHT provides critical care and rapid air transport, in concert with the New York State Police, pursuant to the standards set
forth by the Association of Air Medical Services (AAMS). The air medical team consists of highly trained flight nurses and flight
paramedics. Established in 1989, North Country LIFE FLIGHT offers a unique service to the residents and visitors of the region.
We are proud of our ability to offer our services at no cost. What makes this possible is the combination of the New York State
Aviation Unit and the dedication of our volunteers and paid staff.
North Country LIFE FLIGHT teams with the NYS Police Aviation Unit who provide expert, experienced pilots who have hundreds of hours
flight time piloting the Bell 430 helicopter within the Adirondack Region. Maintenance of the helicopter is also provided through
the Aviation Unit. The Bell 430 has a lot ot offer. Improved instrumentation makes this craft safer, including single
pilot flight capabilities. Improved features extends the craft into search and rescue and enhanced scene capabilities.
The twin jet engines gives the helicopter a cruising speed of 140 knots (160 mph), which puts you or your loved ones within reach
of a level one trauma center wherever you are throughout the Adirondacks. The normal crew configuration is a pilot, a flight
nurse, and a flight paramedic. The aircraft is equipped and stocked to provide in-flight critical care to both adult and pediatric
patients. This equipment includes advanced airway, cardiovascular and trauma management equipment.
