Relief Carvings
The above carvings are taken from the book by Lora S. Irish titled
Landscapes in Relief. After the carving portion was completed, two
coats of a water based polyurethane coating was applied. Then, a wash
of oil based burnt umber was added to bring out the detail.
These are taken from patterns by Bill Judt.
My first relief carving was of Jesus hugging children. This and the
Risen Christ come from the book Relief Carving Treasury. The angel is
found in Inspirational Relief Carving. The eagle head was found in the
magazine Wood Carving Illustrated Issue #3.
