2008 Season Ready to Roll...
Chapel Hill will open it's 2008 racing season with the first of three NY State Championship Series Weekend Events scheduled for Saturday, May 17 - Sunday, May 18. Each day will consist of a complete series of races for all classes following the 2008 WKA Speedway Pavement Guidelines. Not only will each class champion be crowned as the State Champion, any driver wishing to transfer points to the WKA National standings will be able to do so as part of the traditional Divisional Series format.
Track officials note that this is not strictly a WKA Divisional event, but encourages any driver to participate as part of the State Series. Formal WKA membership and National Series participation is not required to run the six race series. "We're hoping to provide a format to encourage local participation" according to the series director, "and we're trying to do what we can to control costs by doubling up the weekend events to get two complete race events per weekend to allow for a six race series with only three trips. Also, we've implemented a tire rule to which should cut just about everyone's tire bill in half."
Chapel Hill Welcomes Back 'The Original' Pizza Logs as 2008 Season Sponsor
Chapel Hill Raceway is once again pleased to announce that Finger Foods Products, Inc., the home of The Original Pizza Logs and Calzones, located in Niagara Falls, NY, will once again be the primary sponsor for the 2008 NY State Championship series. "We're really proud to be supported by such a great organization and are looking forward to a safe and exciting racing season".
