Dream Ride Longest Day Challenge - June 24th & 25th - 402.5 miles with 27,000 feet of climbs. Last year was the first year for the event. The temps both days were in the upper 90's with road temps over 110. I had a fantastic crew - with their support I was able to be the only solo rider to complete the course, with an official time of 35 hours 42 minutes. This year I'll be riding in the Longest Day Challenge as a training run for the Adirondack 540, and as a fundraiser for four shelters sponsored by Catholic Charities of of the Diocese of Harrisburg: Interfaith Shelter for Homeless Families, Evergreen House for rehabilitative services to recovering women, Hope House for individuals living with AIDS, and Lourdeshouse maternity home. For more information on these shelters, go to www.hbgdiocese.org and select Specialized Residences.
