So once again, we were out in the Pine Barrens filming yet another Jersey Devil segment for a television show. We met up with the camera crew at about 4:30pm, and they filmed a few small interview type features and then off we went. We were going out there with Harry Leeds, whom we are familiar with due to filming "Monster Hunters" and "Scariest Places On Earth". Harry was doing most of the leading, so we just kind of went with it. Out we went, to the house foundation location.
We found out some bad news once we got out there. Apparently, a lot of people have been going back there trying to find the house on their own, and now the entire area is under surveillance. The police are constantly watching, ready to arrest anyone out there for trespassing. Harry is a councilman in the area, so he gets us clearance every time. So word to the wise, don't go out there unless you like being charged with trespassing. (Or come with us.)
We found this one particular area of the woods right by the foundation that looks like every Jersey Devil painting scene ever made. It was incredible. Next time we go down there, we'll take some pictures and show you all. It was absolutely beautiful.
This time, Mike and I got back into the foundation further than we've ever gone before (which definitely took some struggling - it's tight in some of those spaces!). We got all the way in to the far back corner, and found samples of glass. There are electrical fixtures still in the house, obviously old fashioned. The foundation shows places where there could have been windows, and you can also find the entire front steps along with two posts that may have marked the ends of the porch.
While we were in this corner, suddenly from outside of the foundation we heard what sounded like something heavy hitting the ground - a loud thump. I tried to go investigate, but the brush was too thick and I couldn't get through. Everyone else heard the noise as well, and the director swore that she didn't mess with us and she swore that Harry hadn't done anything. When Harry was questioned, we weren't so convinced, but no one has admitted to anyone. Was it a coincidence? Was it the handiwork of Harry Leeds? Or was something else upset with us being at the house foundation? I guess we'll never know...
Anyway, the film crew was rolling when the noise occurred, so perhaps when the show comes out they'll have that clip on it and you'll be able to see what happened firsthand.
So, the show should be airing sometime in October, which is around the same time that Monster Hunters will be on as well. I'll keep you posted!
