The Devil Hunters are a group of truth-seekers, not actual hunters. Our goal is to find any kind of proof of the Jersey Devil's existence. We are seeking the creature itself, or anything that may be linked to the legend of the Jersey Devil. Our expeditions have become quite sophisticated, using equipment such as global positioning units, portable radios, recording equipment, general hunting/hiking gear, night vision goggles, laptop computers, acute hearing devices, and other such toys to aid in our search. Eventually, we would like to purchase our own camper to serve as a command center for our hunts.
We now offer two types of membership: Regular and Associate. Regular members are those who are out in the field, attending all the hunts and meetings. These people must live nearby or have a way to travel to New Jersey. Associate membership is offered to anyone who is too far away to be an active hunter, but would like to participate in any way they can. Associates usually help conduct online research, and have the opportunity to upgrade to Regular membership if they meet the requirements (see the chart above).
For our safety and the safety of all involved, we require a preliminary interview with anyone who is interested in becoming a regular member. Just a "get to know you" type session over coffee. This is necessary because there is the potential for harm to all involved, especially when out in the woods with complete strangers. Please do not be offended by our inquiries - just remember that we wish to have the safest hunts possible. We are usually willing to increase our size, as it will aid in our investigations. Not only will we be able to cover larger areas, but each person brings their own individual talents into the group, which prove to be useful in our investigations.
Unfortunately, we do not offer tours to the public at this time - only regular members can attend our regular hunts. However, we are available in some cases for special events - media, charity, educational activities, or Jersey Devil related activities. Please feel free to contact us if you are holding an event and would like our presence or advice. For the group's safety, and the safety of others, we do not allow people to go on hunts with us unless we have fully approved them (through the membership process). We apologize for this, but it's a safety and confidentiality issue.
As always, feel free to e-mail us if you have any questions or comments about our hunts or anything else pertinent to the Jersey Devil. Just give us a little while to reply.
