Do you feel you are getting any closer to discovering the Jersey Devil?
Now that's a good one. During our past few hunts, I have felt more successful. We've certainly grown in our techniques as well, along with gathering a wider variety of knowledge surrounding the legend, area, and even basic survival in the woods. It's hard to say though, if we're any closer. It's all a matter of being in the right place at the right time, I think. Once we all free up, we'll put our skills to more use. Coming this fall: surveillance missions!
OK well I get it that you like to search for the Jersey Devil, but why did you have to fake that you actually saw something that night? It's things like that that make me not believe in this stuff.
For the LAST time, I had nothing to do with the "faking" of that show. Call the producers and bitch them out. They were the ones who changed things behind my back. All you have to do is read this website... Haven't I posted it enough?!!
Has there been any kind of large scale search?
Well, back in 1909 they had several hunting parties gathered to find it, but no one ever came up with definitive results. Most of them had the intent to kill, as well. As far as government funded searches, to my knowledge there have been none. We're probably the closest thing to a large scale search at this point, and we're not very large.
Are you ever scared of becoming a real life "Blair Witch" where you disappear but your equipment is found?
Ehh, not really. When I first saw Blair Witch, the movie terrified me because we didn't know it was faked and it was exactly the type of things we're doing. We're smarter, though. We bring safer equipment and go to smarter areas. I don't think we'll become the next Blair Witch incident.
In several books [of NJ mysteries] I have read about cloven hoofprints found walking in straight lines for several hundred miles, right through obstacles such as brick walls. The footprints would go right up to houses and then reappear on the other side without getting larger as if it had jumped over the house. Is this linked to the Jersey Devil in your opinion?
Well, this is one of the mysteries surrounding the Jersey Devil legend. Its prints have been found to perform miraculous tasks, such as getting through fenced areas or continuing trails that would be impossible for a biological creature (that we know of) to continue. We ourselves found such a set of tracks on a hunt, where the prints spanned 7 feet 4 inches and showed no signs of jumping. I don't have an explanation for it, but I do believe that it is a part of the Jersey Devil legend.
|
Do you think the Jersey Devil's intentions are to wreak havoc or simply to survive?
Well, I don't think he's here to bring hell to earth, that's for sure. I've heard of incidents where the Jersey Devil actually became helpful to other human beings - an interview with a witness will be posted soon, and you'll be amazed at what happened. I think it's just here to do what everyone else does. Survive, raise its family, continue living. If it's attempting to raise holy hell on earth, it's not doing a very good job yet... maybe I speak too soon though, who knows...
Do you think the Jersey Devil can be killed?
Yes, I do. There have been a few times during the history of the Jersey Devil where it supposedly was killed, in fact. Back in the 50's I believe, there was the carcass found that even the Dept. of Wildlife and Conservation couldn't identify. The remains fit the description of the Jersey Devil. And if the creature is a biological entity, then of course it can die, like all others. I have no real proof of this though. It's just what I think.
