Brian's Army National Guard Graduation

Brian left for Basic Training on July 6th, 2000 and was sent to Fort Knox, Kentucky. His graduation was scheduled for the 21st of September. Chatter and I really wanted to be there to see him graduate. We drove for 12 hours to get to Radcliff, KY., arriving at 6:30 pm on the 19th. Family day was on Wednesday, the 20th. A day where we could spend the day with him, but we weren't permitted to take him off the base. So we spent the day driving around the base, visiting the PX and various restaurants. Chatter and I were both surprised at the size of the base. It's a city of it's own.

We spent the entire day of the 21st with Brian once the graduation ceremony was completed. His pass this time allowed him to leave the base.

He left for Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland early on the 22nd. Chatter and I headed back home to New York later in the afternoon after we had lunch and did a little shopping. On our way home, we saw a sign for the Kentucky Derby Museum so we decided to stop and have a look since we weren't in any hurry to return home quite yet. We took the tour of the Grounds, saw the track and visited the Souvenir Shop, where we bought a few things. I thought it was pretty interesting. By 5:00 pm, we were back under way.

We decided to stop for the night just north of Columbus, OH. It was obvious that we wouldn't make it home that night and we were both pretty tired.

We arrived back in Niagara Falls, NY. at 4:30 pm on September 23rd. Our trip put 1395 miles on my car. It was great  to be there to see Brian graduate and spend some time with him, but it was also nice to get home.

Below is an index of some of the photos I took while Chatter and I were in Fort Knox, KY. for Brian's Graduation. These are only a select few... some of the better ones. Click on the page you wish to jump to, or click here to begin from the first page.
