Summer Camp

Troop 1 had a very productive Summer Camp experience this past July!

The boy’s kept busy earning almost 30 merit badges including a few partials.

They also exhibited amazing Team work when it came time for our Campsite improvement project.

Tomato Fest

On the weekend of September 9th, Troop 1 participated in the annual Tomato Fest at Emerson Park.

The Tomato Fest is an annual fund raiser for local food banks. Between our booth fee and a donation of a percentage of our profit’s, Troop 1 donated about $150 to help the food banks.

Our efforts were not totally charitable as it was also a Troop fundraiser that netted Troop 1 a little over $800 for our general fund.

All in all, it was a lot of fun with rave reviews as well as serving a sandwich to Ray Meier, candidate for congress!

Fall Camporee

On Friday, September 29th, Troop 1 will head to Wellesley Island State Park to participate in the “World Fellowship Camporee” hosted by the Hiawatha Seaway Council.

This should prove to be a great experience for the boys as there will be close to 3,000 scouts from the United States and Canada.

We will be joined for the weekend by Webelos from both Pack 59 in Weedsport and Pack 38 in Auburn.

Popcorn Sale

Our “Popcorn Kernel” Kathy Tubbert say’s to “Get out and SELL, SELL, SELL some Trail's End Popcorn!

All of the commissions earned by the boy’s from the Popcorn Sale go into each Scout’s personal fund for the Troop. This money can be used for camping trips as well as the National Jamboree in 2009.

The sale begins Tues., Sept. 26th and runs through Thur., Oct. 19th. All of you committee people be sure to stop by and order some popcorn!

October Camping

We are going to again attempt to camp at the Finger Lakes National Forest in Hector, New York.

As you may recall we got rained out last year and spent the weekend at the Geneva Armory, that is again our backup plan.

Merit Badges etc…

We are still working on the Citizenship in the Community merit badge as well as a few boy’s needing to turn in homework to complete First Aid Merit Badge!

Also, you star gazers from summer camp that still need to do your moon drawing to complete Astronomy Merit Badge.

Camping Adventures

We are planning a “Thanksgiving” campout at Camp Babcock-Hovey in Ovid for November and another outing to Camp Rotary in December.

We have Highland Forest booked for February.
