This site is dedicated to stopping the proposed WalMart “Super Center” currently being planned for 4300 Millersport Hwy in the town of Amherst, New York. This 217,000 square foot store and 1000 car parking  lot will cause many problems to the surrounding residential neighborhood. The proposed Parcel (4300 Millersport highway) is in the middle of the 100 year flood zone and in some parts the flood way. Covering up these wetlands with such a huge building will worsen the water/flooding problem in North Amherst.

The residents of North Amherst are concerned that this big box store will have negative impact on the North Amherst community and does not reflect the promised “Mixed Use” intention outlined in the Town wide Bicentennial Comprehensive plan.

Latest News:

On Tuesday, January 16th, the town board voted 7-0 to initiate a down-zoning of the proposed property where WalMart would be built.  The procedure is that the town Planning board must now submit an application to rezone the property and then hold a public hearing on the proposed rezoning. After the public rezoning hearing, the Planning board would make a zoning recommendation to the Amherst Town Board who will then vote to accept or overrule  the recommendation.
