   THE WAR: AMERICA IN VIETNAM is intended to give students the opportunity to explore their curiosity about the United States’ War in Vietnam.

  Designed as a comprehensive examination of the diplomatic, military, political and social issues surrounding the United States’ entanglement with Vietnam over the thirty years following the Second World War, the course will be organized around four questions.

How did America Get Involved in Vietnam?

How did America Fight the War in Vietnam?

What was the Anti-Vietnam War Protest Movement about?

What have been the consequences of the War in Vietnam for America?

   Students should expect to read five assigned texts relating to the war and these questions.  Three exams, a final and a research project will be required of all students.  Students registering for HIS 593 will complete an additional assignment. View the course syllabus.
