The NPHS ping pong club is dedicated to creating friendships, enjoying friendly or competitive matches, and having a great time.

History (2005-2007)

In my freshman year, 2005, I attended every meeting and game day that the club had to offer. I was one of the few members who always showed up and participated. If you were a member in 2005, you would remember that we met in room E-5 at lunch on Thursdays. There were four working tables at the start of the year. I think we worked our way down to two by the end. In addition to losing some of our tables to overuse, we had to move out of our regular spot the next year because four classrooms were being built out of that building. Most of the members in 2005 year were seniors and when they graduated the club disintegrated.

I worked very hard trying to find a place for the club to convene in 2006; and we ended up in the kind Mr. Kim’s second story classroom D-32. I rebuilt the club from scratch and searched for new members. The 2006 school year was a huge success for the NPHS Ping Pong Club. Our club attracted from 10 – 20 people each week, 19 of whom were official club members and other interested students were flowing in and out. We had meetings every Thursday at Lunch in which we served donuts for free, had mini-tournaments, held challenge matches, and formed a rank ladder. We managed to raise enough money to buy sufficient supplies and a brand new Stiga table.

Last year, 2006-7, was fabulous. Mr. Kim continued to be our advisor and our meetings moved to room D-23. Many of 2006’s members have returned and have already become official members for 2007 generating new funds.  We bought some much needed new supplies and continued to have a great time.

The NPHS Ping Pong Club is always looking for new members, and joining is not difficult. If you are interested in joining the club you can contact me whenever it is convenient for you. I'm looking forward to meeting more people this year (2007-2008) and watching the club grow in size. If you enjoy playing ping pong or are interested in learning how, this club is great for you!
