Our First Christmas Together

Christmas - December - 2000
On December 18th, Ken arrived in New Hampshire for two and a half weeks so we could spend our first Christmas and New Years together. We realized last year that we would not be able to be apart again for Christmas as we were last year and started planning early to make this Christmas special. It was a most wonderful and joy filled time for both of us. A time to grow in love and in confidence for where the future was surly heading as we look forward to our living together next summer.

We both enjoyed so many aspects of the Christmas celebration including worshiping together, decorating the house, shopping,  a visit to see the Boston Pops, lots of entertaining and eating of goodies. One of the first things we did was to go caroling with a group from church and then we had them over to the house for a little Christmas cheer , Christmas cookies, and some warm fellowship. It was so good to be a couple as we entertained our friends.

The house was all decked out with Christmas decorations including an 11 foot tree.  There were candles and greens everywhere you looked and the air was filled with Christmas music. We had some old traditions and started many new ones.

Though we are positioned so you can't see it, there is a roaring fire going here. We had many fires in the stone fireplace and what a nice spot it was to curl up with a loved one.  We liked to turn the lights down low and listen to soft music as we enjoyed the glow and warmth from the fire. It was an image we had rehearsed many a time and when it finally was possible, it was better than we had dreamed. Here you can see some of the Christmas decorations and also our stockings hung with care when we took this picture on Christmas eve.

Christmas is a perfect time to reflect on the love God has given us and how that love should be shared.

Santa managed to find us both in New Hampshire and the tree was surrounded with gifts on Christmas morning

Here you see Ken serving egg nogg on Christmas eve as we were about to settle down in front of the fire to wait for midnight to arrive. We had been to a beautiful candle light church service earlier in the evening and now it was time to sit back, relax, and just enjoy the mystery and beauty of Christmas.

Here is Jim reading the instructions for the stereo that Ken gave him. Lots of buttons!

In addition to preparing for the egg nogg parties, we also enjoyed preparing a delicious pork roast dinner for Christmas day. Yep... candle light.
