Our Trip to the "Basin" in Franconia Notch State Park, New Hampshire

July 1999 and a statement of our love

Its funny how such a simple act can come to mean so much. Yet what we have come to realize is that it is the sharing of fun things together and turning them in to memories that's important. As I contemplated having a really close friend and partner for the first time, it was this thought of traveling and experiencing things together for the first time that excited me.

What a wonderful day we had that warm summer day when Ken and I went to Franconia State park in New Hampshire. Our spirits seemed to be totally free as we laughed, joked, and more or less acted like kids in this beautiful place. As we kicked off our shoes and scampered over the water smoothed boulders we soaked in the beauty of this place and of that day.

When we spotted the huge fallen tree spanning the gorge, we both got the idea to leave this more or less permanent sign of our love. We carved our initials in that tree for all to see.  It was one of those little turning points. Unplanned and spontaneous. Yet, not only might it show others, it shows us what we mean to each other.

How many others have done this simple act before?   J+K  :)
