Dizzinews: archive site
The Dizzinews archive site is a place where you can find and read previous Dizzinews digests. You can get to the archive by following this link: http://lists.samurai.com/mailman/private/dizzinews/ Note that the archive is private, so you must be a Dizzinews subscriber in order to gain access to the archive. A note about the ".gz" file extension: Files in the archive are stored in a file format known as G-Zip. These files end with the characters ".gz". The word zip refers to the fact that the file has been compressed or made smaller so that it takes up less room at the archive site. Most late model Web browsers automatically open these files without you even having to give it a second thought. However, if you're using a browser that won't open compressed files on the fly, you will need to acquire a software utility that will uncompress these files for you. You can find software like this, along with a tremendous amount of other useful software, at a www.tucows.com Once you get to the Tucows site, choose your operating system and follow the appropriate links until you get to a category labled "General Tools, Compression Utilities." Once there, you'll find many Freeware and Sharware versions of file decompression software. One file decompression utility that I really like is called StuffIt Expander by Aladdin, which you'll find at www.aladdinsys.com. It comes in both Windows and Macintosh versions, and it's free. If you have any trouble accessing the archive because of the GZ file compression, just and we'll figure it out together.
