The Glory of America by Pastor Bill Clark Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people. Proverbs 14:34 The scene is set some 231 years ago. A new nation is born called the United States of America, a nation birthed by God from the influence of two British preachers, John Wesley and George Whitfield. It was birthed and based on the King James Bible. A nation founded for the freedom of worship. The Declaration of Independence gave every person the right to freely assemble and worship God. Never did it mean to separate people from their God. King George III wrote in his diary on July 4, 1776, "Nothing happened today," but how wrong he was as America declared the Declaration of Independence. Ronald Reagan said, "Without God there is no virtue because there is no prompting of the conscience. Without God democracy will not and cannot endure. If we ever forget we are a nation under God, we will be a nation gone under." First, the King James Bible was used to found our government. For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he will save us. Isaiah 33:22. Number one: The Lord is our judge. Number two: The Lord is our king. Number three: The Lord will save us. This is the text used to form the three branches of government; President, Congress and Supreme Court. The tax exemption for churches comes from Ezra 7:24 Also we certify you, that touching any of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, or ministers of this house of God, it shall not be lawful to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them. Second, righteousness exalteth a nation to God's glory. Justice, doing right, right living and honest dealing. Righteousness exalts the moral state of the nation. Is it any wonder morality has been torn down through bad Supreme Court decisions on abortion, prayer and Bible, pornography, sex perversion, criminal rights. Drugs, sex and alcohol pervade our schools. Thousands of teenagers commit suicide each year. Churches have even gone to rock and rap music, clothing the movie stars wear and a hopeless attitude. Jesus Christ gives the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh to the Father but by Jesus Christ (John 14:6). Righteousness exalteth the political state of the nation. Psalms 33:12 says, Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. We elected a born-again President and the liberals are doing everything they can to stop him. So many have failed and some are even doing time in jail. Righteousness exalts the intellectual state of the nation. Students study to pass national tests. Teachers can't teach because of disorder while the Bible is ignored. Righteousness exalts the social state of the nation. Manners and attitudes toward others. People commit hate crimes with cars. Rock and rap music cultures promote sex, booze, drugs, cursing, murders, traitors and anti-parent and police attitudes. Where is America headed? I pray to outlaw abortion as murder and return the rights of law-abiding citizens. We really need to pray for America, the Supreme Court, Congress and the President. Third, righteousness exalteth freedom. Bro. Lynn Munson said the difference between Romania and (continued page 2) |
