Dansm's Sea Kayaking Page
"I require of every writer a simple and sincere account of his own life;
some account as he would send to his kindred from a distant land;
for if he has lived sincerely, it must have been a distant land to me."
-- Henry David Thoreau, Walden, 1854

Kayaking, to me, is about freedom. It's about leaving the cares of daily life behind. It's about being yourself and knowing yourself. Wherever you kayak, be it a lazy river or a large backwoods lake, you feel some of that freedom. However, nowhere on earth can you feel more free than on the ocean. This site is about finding these places, but more importantly, it's about finding yourself.

This page is dedicated to sea kayaking. Here you will find a small collection of anything relevant to kayaking on lakes and on the sea, most important of which is my new Kayaker's Journal. If you want to learn more about me, click here. If you have suggestions for this page, just drop me an e-mail.
A Kayaker's Journal A diary of the trips I've made throughout New England, updated frequently!
Kayaking Links Links to sites I find useful: weather resources, navigational chart resources, relevant NOAA and Coast Guard sites, manufacturers, paddling clubs, etc.
Javascript Tidal
Current Calculator
A Javascript applet that calculates tidal current predictions for all NOAA tidal current stations around the country. Just input the reference data, select your desired subordinate locations, and you're done -- a great tool!
Ocean Kayaking Safety A list of things to know before heading out on the ocean.
Kayaking Books Descriptions of necessary kayaking books.
About Me A bit about myself and my kayaking experiences.
