Doug had the second highest score in his class on his final exam. And even better had the highest GPA in the class also. Congrats!

04 Nov 2006

Number One Son (Sean) has moved to Miami Beach, FL. He delights in telling us how great the weather is down there. Check out the postcard he sent me. What a brat, eh?

Sean and Jason's father passed away October 27, 2006. Condolences to my boys.

Quote of the Moment
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

welcome

Hello and welcome to Doug and Sue Clark's little home on the web.
Photo of Pemaquid River Here you will find out about Doug's passion for trains and guitars, Sue's passion for Halloween and lighthouses, and members of our family, both human kids and fur kids. Also, the obligatory photo album is here. Hope you enjoy. Oh, the images at the top and left were taken by Sue in 2004. The waterlilies photo was taken at Sherman Lake, Newcastle, which alas is no longer there. In the autumn of 2005 the dam gave away and Sherman Lake disappeared. It was a man-made lake, and has now reverted to salt marsh/river status as it has rejoined the Marsh River, the way nature intended. The photo to the left was taken during a canoe trip on the Pemaquid River in 2004. That was one of those "3F" days for Doug. What's a "3F" day? FFF (Forced Family Fun). We don't have too many of those, but when we do, they're good ones. Well, if you consider that Sue went swimming inadvertantly during that trip. Fortunately, the camera survived, and the water wasn't too bad. Anyway, you're welcome to stay and visit awhile, and if you'd like, leave a message for us in the guestbook.
Also be sure to check out the links at the top of the page also. Two of them are Sue's blogs (one for the lighthouse controversy and the other for general rants and raves) and one is for the specific Halloween site with props, photos, and how-tos. The Pemaquid Point site is currently being used for the controversy, but eventually will be for the members of the FPPL.

about us

As you can see from the header, we reside in Bristol, Maine, having moved here in 2000 from Nobleboro, Maine. Sue is originally from Michigan, while Doug was born and raised in Massachusetts. Sue and Doug originally met online, on a bulletin board service for EMS. Doug was involved in EMS dating back to the old Cadillac ambulance days and Sue became involved in EMS back in 1988. After months of correspondence and online chat, Sue came out to visit and the rest as they say, is history. After Sue's divorce was final, she moved out in May of 1999. Number two son, Jason (Hunter) came out with Sue and Sean (Hunter) followed in January 2000. Sue and Doug were married in September of 2000 at Pemaquid Point Lighthouse. It's a second marriage for each.Wedding Day Photo Photo was taken on Wedding Day at Pemaquid. That's Sean (oldest son), Doug, Sue, Jason (youngest son) from left to right. The combined family also includes Sandy, a yellow Labrador Retriever and Molly, the newest addition, a Maine Coon mix. And not to forget Molly's predecessor, Chessie, Doug's cat, who graced him with her presence for 17 years. Sue knew her for eight years. See the Rainbow Bridge page for Chessie and others. Sue was most recently employed full time at Fisher Engineering in Rockland, Maine, until recent termination due to lack of work (after almost 6 years!), while Doug works part time for Maine Eastern Railroad, also in Rockland. Sean, Sue's oldest son, moved to Miami Beach, FL in November of 2006, and is working at Cheeseburger Baby while he studies for a real eastate broker license. He works as a sternman (on a lobster boat) when living in Maine. Number two son, Jason, was most recently employed at Marc Antony's Italian Restaurant in Wiscasset. Sandy and Molly are currently unemployed. But they're available for work if anyone is hiring. Unfortunately, Molly would rather play with mice than capture them, and we still haven't decided what kind of job would be good for a Lab who is unskilled in everything except begging, sleeping on the bed and car rides.
Sue volunteers with the Friends of Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, and has recently resigned as their secretary. Doug is a volunteer with Operation Life Saver, and has recently completed the Maine one hundred hour criminal justice course through Southern Maine Community College.

site news

Some parts of this site are incomplete, particularly those areas belonging to Doug (guitars and trains). But be sure to check out the Lighthouse page, and the Halloween one. Those are Sue's areas, and although she'll probably have to do Doug's eventually, at least hers are done. The photo section will be up soon, and will have a couple pages for the furkids.

page design

This site is based on open source design templates utilizing CSS and XHTML. It has been fun relearning page design and how it has changed and actually become easier. Sue used to have a popular EMS website when she was known as EMT Sue. Credit and great appreciation goes to Andrew Tedstone for making his Symphony template available.
