Sun N Fun at Lakeland, FL, used to be our favorite airshow. We made it to that event 10 years in a row; three times driving all the way to Florida while a builder, and then seven years of flying to the event as a show plane. But we haven't been for the past two years. Why?

In the early years, there would only be about 80,000 attendees. Now it has exploded in popularity and has about ten times that many visitors. I expect it will hit the 1 million mark soon. The show has definitely lost its appeal as it has grown in size, just like Oshkosh. It is now more of an airshow for the general public as opposed to its early roots as an experimental aircraft Fly-In.
