GAI-0.5.x or above is required to compile and run gi8k 1.4 and above

i8k

i8k is a kernel module precompiled in most major linux distros. It is specific to Dell latptops and not needed for any other reason, therefore you will likely have to load it manually by doing as root: modprobe i8k. If the module fails to laod, you may need to recompile your kernel.
You may also wish to try i8kutils, a package to utility programs for accessing i8k information. This is NOT required to run gi8k.
