Greetings! This website is all about R/C model
aircraft and helicopters. I have been modeling for almost 34 years,
and have been flying radio control models since the age of 12. My
first radio control was the Heathkit 5 channel. The servos in that
radio were LARGE, the size of quarter scale servos today! The radio
was built by a good friend of mine, who was instrumental in helping
me advance from the Guillows stick and tissue and the control-line
airplanes I had been building. That was in 1972! (Now, with a little
math, you know how old I am.. ;) .
Anyway, things have changed ALLOT
since I began building and flying R/C models. The manufacturers have
increased the quality of the kits, the reliability of the radio equipment
has increased tenfold, and the features of the radios have become
such that it is very easy to electronically mix different controls
and functions to enable even the strangest aircraft designs to fly!
Model jets are propelled by actual turbine engines and can achieve
flight speeds in excess of 200 mph! There are even computer simulators
now, that are very realistic, and will save a lot of money and frustration
while practicing new maneuvers or learning the orientation skills
needed while flying a model.
I enjoy building and flying fixed wing aircraft,
and just recently I have finally bit the bullet and started flying
helicopters. The pages in this web contain most of the aircraft I
have built, however there are some that I didn't photograph, for one
reason or another. I hope you enjoy your time here, and hopefully
pick up something useful from my experiences.
