Here are a few choice pics with descriptions of my leather/chain shirt project. It turned out really good, even if I do say so myself. After wearing it a couple times...I still found a few flaws that need tending to, but, they're minor.
A shout out to my buddy CoconutVill in Texas! He purchased this shirt this past fall, and I must say..It looks good on him. :) Thank you much man,,I hated to part with it..but at least I know it got a good home!! :)

| This is the beginning of the front piece, before the centers were filled in. | And this is the same piece with most of the centers filled in. The back is identical. |

This is the completed shirt. I had to take them apart 3 different times to get the size right. First time, way too big..second time I took out too much and it looked like a maternity shirt with my 'married belly'. |

| My little Brother-in-law james modeling the armour when it was done. Picture is a little fuzzy because I used my web cam for the picture. *sigh*, only to have a digital camera someday. | This was taken at the Ohio Renaissance Festival near Cinci. From Left to right, my bud Greg in his leather scale armour, Me in mine, and bud Tyrone in his Pirate type garb. This was also the day I was able to meet Sir Guido and his other half, Lady Guido, in sort of an impromtu gathering. Both are incredibly nice and SG is an extremely talented Mailler. There were supposed to be a couple more maillers there that day, but were unable to make it. Met them originally at the Chainmaill bulletin Board. You can find the URL on my links page. |

After giving my chain mantle to my bud Greg, I needed another one to replace it. I had some leftover diamonds from the shirt, and thought, 'Gee, I bet I could make one out of these..' so I got to work. It only took a couple days to figure it out, and after I got the spaces filled in with a chain 'Patch', everything went fine. This is the result. I personally thinks it's a bit much to go with the shirt, so i doubt if I'll use them together. Probably going to make a bronze and Stainless steel mantle to go with the shirt. |
Well, thats all for now on the leather/chain project. I will be putting together some pages on a 'howto' in case you would like to know how I went about making it. Most of the leather, except for the yoke, was made out of scraps I got from a local leather shop. :) Hows that for frugal, eh? ;)
