Education is not the filling of a bucket, it is the lighting of a fire. -W.B. Yeats

When I moved to Colorado Springs it took me quite a while to find all that I needed to homeschool here. I had to look up the law, figure out where to send my notice of intent and what to include on it, determine how to have my children tested or find a good evaluator for them, get directions to the local bookstores and school supply stores, figure out who teaches music lessons in town, hook into a local support group with activities so my children could meet some other homeschoolers in the area, and make some homeschool friends for myself.
This website is my attempt to make all that information easier for you to find, whether you are a new homeschooler, an experienced homeschooler who is new to the area, or an experienced homeschooler who just wants to know what is out there for us.
* The Christian Home School by Gregg Harris -gives excellent reasons why Christians and non-Christians should homeschool, but definitely mostly written for Christians. Excellent!

* The Successful Homeschool Family Handbook and * Better Late Than Early by Ray and Dorothy Moore -unschooling point of view
* The Homeschooling Handbook by Mary Griffith -answers all your questions, but with a slight unschooling slant
* an asterisk means this book is available through the Pikes Peak Library.
