Middle Yough Take Out. Sugarloaf and Baughman Hiking Trail junctions. Cross the river on the PA 381
bridge. Turn left at the end of the bridge to continue on the trail.
Ohiopyle business area. Services in the community include bike and river rental shops, bike repairs, groceries,
restaurants, and overnight accommodations. This community is a mountain resort surrounded by a 18,700 acre
state park. Follow PA Route 381 south about 1/4 mile to the Ohiopyle Falls.

Connellsville River Front Park Restrooms, water, trail approved parking, and pavilion. PA 119 passes over the park.
Connellsville has numerous businesses on both side of the river. Services include a full service bike shop, major restaurants, motels, groceries, and a full range of retail outlets.
58 Connellsville Railroad Yard This is the south terminus of the Yough River Trail, Northern Section. PA
Routes 119 and 201 intersect at the end of the railroad yard. There is no approved trail parking in this area.

56 Historic Site. The remains of the Overholt Distillery are visible across the river. The distillery was owned by Henry
Clay Frick's grandfather. The remains of the Northern Railroad Bridge are visible in the river.

54.5- 53.5 Historic Site. Beehive coke ovens are on the hillside adjacent to the trail. These may have been owned by
steel baron Henry Clay Frick. These ovens are relics from the late 1800's.
53.7 Bridge piers were the location of a suspension bridge to Raineytown.

52.8 CAUTION. Beginning of undeveloped (as of Spring 1998) trail section. Use extreme caution! Dickerson Run. PA Route 819 over
passes trail. Cross bridge, east on 819, to Dawson.
Dawson has grocery stores, restaurants, laundromat, bait shop antique shops and bed and breakfasts. Historic Site.
Dawson has several Victorian homes. Cochran Church has ornate Italian stone work. Follow 819 west to
Dickerson Run, Liberty, and Vanderbilt, the Tri-town area. Follow dirt road out of railroad yard
(abandoned streetcar line) to Vanderbilt. Grocery, convenience, and antique stores are located in this
community.
52.8 - 46.2 CAUTION. Remote area no houses, services, or crossroads.
52.3 Historic Site. Location of Dickerson Run Railroad Yard, which contained a roundhouse, switching hump, and
numerous tracks for the P&LE Railroad. CAUTION: Private property, stay on the trail.

45.4 Washington Run. Asphalt road leads to Perryopolis. Historic Site. George Washington's Grist Mill and
Distillery are located east of town on Washington's Run.
45.3 Bridge to Layton over passes trail. CAUTION. This highway bridge and adjacent tunnel was once a railroad
(Washington Run Railroad) and is single lane - if you cross the river to Layton, proceed with extreme caution. There is a river outfitter and
camp ground located in this community.
44.5 Road to Perryopolis and PA Route 51. Perryopolis offers a pharmacy, hardware store, groceries, restaurants, and
a motel.

24.9 Historic Site. Location of Dravo Methodist Church which burned in 1920. The Cemetery of the church is the
location of graves dating back to the early 1800's. Bench at trailside.
