About Cville Jams & Music

what'sHere
Information about open music jams & sessions, festivals & music camps, and dances in and around Charlottesville, Virginia.

This web site has information about all of the jams, festivals, and dances in and around the Charlottesville area, of any genre, of which I am aware, and that is of interest to our jamming community.

The current list has information on Old-time, Irish, Bluegrass, Jazz, and Celtic/Folk music jams. These are listed in calendar order.

The festival season is well underway for 2006, and I have compiled a long listing of yearly events that should interest you. These are also in calendar order. Reserve your vacation time now! Sweep those spiders out of your tent, air out your sleeping bag, pack up the cooler, and head off to a music festival for jamming heaven.

You can also find information on Contra dancing, Ceilis, Barn dancing, and other types of dancing. A number of the musicians in our jamming community provide the music for these dances.

You might notice that some of the events are far away. That is because some of the members of our jamming community live far away! And you might want to attend jams or festivals in other cities, states, or countries.

I am creating a page for the Charlottesville-area music teachers who are a part of the jamming community, if you want to take lessons in a particular genre or on a new instrument.  If you teach music and want to be listed, contact me.  (page not yet created as of 4/7/06)

Lots of us have bands and have recorded CDs. Go to this page to find out how to buy the CDs and book the bands. (page not yet created as of 4/7/06)

Finally, I am collecting interesting and useful links to other relevant websites.  If you think I have missed a great site, please let me know.

If you have any information that you would like to add, please send it to me, Olivia:
