Stained Glass
border.gif (3365 bytes)
These photos were taken by the Preservation Coordinator in St. Joseph in about 1993. Unfortunately none of these windows is really still intact, but now at least we have a guide to begin reconstruction

These are the pictures sent by a previous resident in the Corby.  The colors and beauty of the windows is simply impressive.  This is particularly true when compared to the only other photo we had.  See Below for new diagrams

This pair of arched windows is above the Living Room East Window. The brown glass goes from lighter on the left to a darker shade on the right. The left window is still intact. SGLREastWdw.JPG (10252 bytes)
SGLRSECrnr.JPG (10150 bytes) This beautiful arch is in the quoin on the SE corner of the house. Although bowed and slightly broken, it is still present. The browns match those of the other two Living Room windows.

Kathy and I would have bet money that the Living Room windows would have matched the Parlor and Dining room windows. But here is the proof that they did not. These spectacular arches were in the Parlor and are totally different than the others that survive.

And now for the restored glass.  The transition from light to dark in the background is what makes these panels special LR E Arch full.jpg (25633 bytes)

The restored South Arch is just phenomenal in full sunlight, this was a cloudy day thank goodness or it would have been a blur of color.

Corner SG.jpg (29045 bytes) Unfortunately, it was a bit bright when this photo was taken, will try for a better one.  The blue border here is just dramatic.

These are the patterns for the 5 Conservatory Transom panels.  The pictures of these panels indicate they were a combination of art glass and cathedral and absolutely beautiful.
