Library

2d Floor, 2 Story, North Side

The view on the right is the library before gutting.  The small room blocked the light into the hall and made the 2d floor seem much smaller.

The view on the left is looking north into the Library. We will extend a railing around the stair. There is still a bit of a hump in the floor as the ORIGINAL wall was where the black mark is on the far baseboard. When that wall was moved, the floor joist naturally sprang up an inch or two.

Now for some NEW pictures of the Library with walls and a floor!!
Below is the same view north as above but with a new wall and wide plank pine floor.  To the right is a view south towards Laura's Bath.

Darker boards, particularly visible on the left photo actually came from the utility room floor which hda two layers of T&G under a layer of linoleum and plywood.
Library to Guest Floor 1.jpg (21889 bytes) The finished floors were certainly worht the effort.  Below is a close-up of the floor at the top of the back stairs.  At left is a veiw into the Guest BR.

Library 10-00.jpg (22097 bytes) Although dusty, the library is a nice open space (and currently doing duty as the home of the computer)
This is the floor of the attic/ceiling of the back hall.  The area just right of the light is where an original skylight once existed we think. Back Hall Ceiling.jpg (43287 bytes)
