FrontasBought.JPG (12268 bytes) The three story addition was a classic example of the Second Empire Style. It has a mansard roof, quoins, appropriate window styling and the heavy cornice indicative of the period. Each of the arches (save the door) had stained glass. The 2d story upper sashes all had colored glass around a clear center. The larger panes in all the lower windows were plate glass almost 1/4" thick.

SE outside corner.jpg (30152 bytes) Jan 01 and it looks much less abandoned.  The two 2d floor center widows have been repaired, the stained glass is in and other than the conservatory, the boards are off the windows.
As the repoint continues, the house looks better and better! Below is a close-up of the double window (which replaced the plate glass on the right side)

A close-up of the new front doors.   Actually storm doors, the interior wood doors were custom made by Victorian Woodworks.  The black exterior storms are basically there to protect the inner set.  Compare the look to the house as we bought it on the right.
