Mission Statement for
The Church of the Blessed Sacrament

Our parish has a Mission and Vision Statement
which will guide us on our journey to the Kingdom:

PARISH MISSION AND VISION STATEMENT

for the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, Newark
Adopted by Parish Council - 6 March, 1997

 OUR MISSION:

We, the family of the Church of the Blessed Sacrament,
are a People of Blessing,
called to be a living sign of God's Love for the world,
to each other and to all we meet.

OUR VISION:

We intend to develop a community of Faith
centered on the Eucharist,
conscious of the action of God's Spirit
in our hearts and lives,
with a special devotion to Mary, Mother of the Church,
and to all the Saints who remind us of God's grace and power.

We hope to grow in our relationship with God,
as individuals, as families, and as a parish family,
by strengthening and sustaining the values which nurture family life,
and by serving the needs of our fellow human beings,
feeding and nourishing them, in body, mind and spirit,
through the grace of God, by Word and Sacrament,
and through our life of Faith, Hope and Love.

We commit our hearts and lives to our God and to each other
as we journey together toward the Kingdom,
striving to be an Oasis of Peace in a world that needs healing.

OUR RESOURCES:

The resources available to us to accomplish this Mission and Vision are:

      1. Our Parish Community, the individuals and families
who are the foundation and strength of the whole body
which gathers weekly for the Sunday Eucharist,
and daily in various forms of liturgical worship and prayer,
and which works together as a family to respond to God's call.

      2. Our Pastoral Staff, including our pastor, deacons and other personnel
who see to the administration of the parish in cooperation with its members.

      3. Our Parish School, which teaches our values and way of life, through offering quality
elementary education to our youth, and through educational outreach
to other members of our parish and others in the community.

      4. Our parish buildings, which are at the service of the members of the parish
                            and the wider community.

      5. Our relationships with those beyond our parish who live, work and interact with us,
especially the residents and faith communities of the east end of Newark.
