The beauty of Italian Greyhounds causes one to remark on their decorative and ornamental qualities in the home, for they have the look of a fine piece of porcelain. Yet they have been raced on miniature oval tracks in the United States and Italy. And since they are sighthounds, they have been used to hunt, to chase jackrabbits, and to rat. They are, however, primarily companion dogs par excellence. Thus, their finest attribute is the love and affection they so readily 

Nature has created such a thing of beauty in the Italian Greyhound that no altering, such as cropping of ears or docking of tails, is required. Being with people is the foremost desire of Italian Greyhounds, even to the exclusion of other dogs. For this reason, they are sometimes referred to as people dogs. Your lap is their favorite resting-place. They make ideal pets for shut-ins, since they delight in sharing your bed with you and will do so for hours on end. They are good car riders and will stay settled rather than jump around. Getting along with other 

dogs and cats comes naturally to the Italian Greyhound. I've even had one share quarters with a baby deer, and they became the best of friends. Their excellent temperament and quiet disposition make them ideal companions for children.
