Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It is not rude, it is not self-seeking.
It is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil, but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails.

A Little About Me ...

I am a resident of the State of Florida, but was born in Maine in 1940, and have lived in many places around the globe (Connecticut, Hawaii, Japan, Idaho, North Carolina, West Virginia).

I love to travel, and have traveled extensively throughout the U.S.A. (48 states) and a little bit in Canada (4 provinces) and Japan.  My husband and I have also been on a few cruises to the Caribbean and the Panama Canal since we began cruising in 1996.  I usually take my genealogical trips in the late summer and fall; however, I try to link them up with visits to our children and grandchildren. Last year I was blessed to see my first great-grandson.  I have not yet had the opportunity to travel to Europe, and I would really like to see something of the U.K., Germany, and Australia.

But my greatest love is genealogy!  I've been working on my family lines since 1955 and have since expanded my research to include not only my husband's lines, but helping others find their ancestors.  I am a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the National Genealogical Society, the New England Historical and Genealogical Society, and many, many other state and local societies and family associations.  My ancestors since the early 1600s have primarily resided in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, England, Sweden, Belgium, Canada, France, just to name a few.

My father grew up in Bath, Maine and comes from an ancestry of primarily English, Irish, Scots, and Welsh (on both sides).  Through my father's line, I can trace my lineage directly back to about seven of the passengers on the Mayflower, and into most of the Royal Families of England and Europe.  I also claim approximately 12 Revolutionary War ancestors and am in the processing of proving each one for submission to the DAR; and I descend from Rebecca (Towne) Nurse, a Salem Witch Trial victim, among others.

My mother grew up in Bath and Brunswick, Maine and comes from an ancestry of French-Canadian (paternal side) and Swedish (maternal side).    Through my mother's line, I claim descent from Louis Hebert, the first settler to New France (now Quebec, Canada); and am also a "distant" cousin of my favorite female singer, Celine Dion.

I have been researching my husband's ancestral lines for about 20 years now and have managed to track the Ackermann, Heil, Hohmann, etc. surnames back to Germany; however, finding the town and/or parish in Bavaria, Hessia, and Baden have proven quite elusive to date.  I've had a bit better luck finding his Irish ancestry (comprised of Fulton, Henderson, etc.), but still need to do much more work.

I have recently begun to document the ancestral lines of my first husband, Robert ("Bob") Erwin Buchholz, the father of my three children.  Before his death last year, he was attempting to locate as many of his "relatives" as he could find.  My daughter, Karen is carrying on with this quest and I have agreed to assist her in this endeavor.  I have gathered as many of his research papers and notes that we could locate and entered them into the computer.  The first draft of that project is now online as The Ancestors of Robert Erwin Buchholz.  Some of the surnames included in this database are:  Buchholz, Essel, Herr, Hooge, Kirstein, Lewald, Schink.  It is our hope that this database will expand with contributions from other family members.  A word of caution:  this database has NOT been verified with source documentation; it is primarily comprised of information gathered by Bob and much work needs to be done to document all the information contained therein.
