I have a question about the above. March 22, 1888 you write Catherine Carr? Could this be Catherine Dunn. I have a Catherine Dunn who married a Grant. Also the sponsor to this baptism of Mary Margaret Grant was Martin Jackman and the sponsors to my greatgrandmothers baptism, Bridget Ann Dunn in 1854 were James and Mary Jackman. This would help me a lot to know if this could have been Catherine Dunn. I thought that since you put a ? after the name Carr you couldnt be sure. NormaNisco@aol.com
* I sent you a previous note about this baptism on your index. 22 Mar 1888. After checking the record I find it is Catherine Cairns and her husband Edward Grant. Not My Catherine Dunn. My Catherine Dunn married William Grant. FHC # 0862439 St Joachims Church records.

March 22, 1889 An Exiciting Scene
Michael Began, who was yesterday sentenced to six months for the larcency of a sliegh robe, gave officer Taylor quite a chase while being escorted to jail. The pair moved quietly along till Eden's corner was reached, when Micheal, whose busy brain was at work evolving some plan of escape, started on a brisk run without asking permission so to do from the officer. The officer was taken somewhat by suprise at this proceeding on the part of Michael, but was not slow to accept the challange thus thrown out.Taking a long breath he started in pursuit.Along Pownal street they flew, to the astonishment of the people in the neighbourhood and the delight of the small boys. For a time it was a tight race, and betting was about even. But finally the officer began to gain on the redoubtable Michael, and by the time Connoly's brick warehouse was reached had him captured. Both were pretty well "winded".After a brief rest, but not for refresments, the pair retraced their steps in the direction of the jail.Michael looked despondant, but there was a quiet twinkle in the officer's eye as he remarked,You couldn't get away from me so easy as you thought, my boy,"and tightened his grip on his prisioner.Their march back to jail was watched by quite a number of persons, but nothing exciting occured.Michael was quietly handed over to the jailer whose guest he will be for the next six months, and the officer returned to the station where he recieved the congratulations of the other members of the force. The time made by the officer was not taken but the general impression is that he broke the record. 1897 'Thanks to your site I may have found my family!!!! In short, I am looking for George Ocsar Dunphy, father to my grandfather Arthur Leonard Simpson Dunphy. My grandfather was born 1897 on Campobello Island. George Oscar was listed as the father but was not a part of his life or his family. Until my grandfather's passing we were not to speak of it! Now I'm on George's trail. Your site has plenty of Dunphy's and the proximity of PEI to Campobello makes me think that there may be possiblities of a family connection. Since I am new to this geneology stuff I don't know how to research the Dunphy's from here. What are the references after each entry, how do I get a hold of them and would they contain anything more than you supplied me with? Do you think that Dunphy's and Duffy's could be one and the same on PEI? There are references to both John Dunphy and John Duffy. Do you know of anybody else researching Dunphy's?
I'm just thrilled to think I may be on the right trail. Your hard and diligent work may have paid off for me. THANK YOU! Buffy ebarton@cinci.rr.com

July 1, 1900 "However there is a marriage between John Thomas Began and Katie Powers. His age is given as 29 and hers as age 28. Birthplace for John Thomas is given as Johston River, PEI. Birthplace for Katie is given as Mermaid, lot 48, PEI. His occupation is listed as "Fireman-stationary" and hers as waitress. Both show their address as 573 Sommerville Av. After leaving Sommerville City Hall I swung by Sommerville Ave. to see if there was a building still standing at that address. Sure enough there is a four family building at that address across from Conway Park. It's covered with a green aluminum siding and is probably old enough to be the same building that the young newlywed Beagens lived in." Simon Fahey

1901 " My husband's father was Henry P. BYRNES. His marriage certificate lists his parents as Patrick BYRNES and Ellen HINELY of Cambridge, MA. Henry's marriage certificate was issued in NY City in 1926. It gave Henry's age as 25, so he must have been born to Patrick and Ellen about 1901. There is a family tradition that Henry was adopted, and that his birth family was from P.E.I. We haven't been able to find any birth records or adoption records for him in MA. Except for the marriage certificate, the only other document I have located is the birth certificate for Ellen "Nellie" Hinley. She was born in Cambridge, MA, on August 10, 1874, to Patrick and Honora (?) Hinley, both of whom were born in Ireland. Henry, my husband's father, married Loretta Cecilia Gordon in Queens, NY. In addition to the information given above, the only other information is that Henry resided on Roseberry Street, Forest Hills, NY. His occupation is listed as chauffeur. Loretta's parents were Thomas and Loretta (O'Donnell) Gordon of New York City. Henry and Loretta had three children. My husband, John J. Byrnes, is the youngest, born in 1935. The family moved to Daytona Beach in about 1937. After his parents separated, my husband had little contact with his father. If you can find any connection between Patrick BYRNES and your family records, we would very much appreciate any information you can provide". Jan and Jack Byrnes jjbyr@bellsouth.net
