Venus transits the Sun

                     Venus transits the sun on June8th ,2004 ! The image of Venus was captured with a Toucam Pro webcam and 8" Celestron Powerstar SCT just as it was leaving the disk of the Sun . A homemade sunfilter was used to image the sun at full aperture with the webcam at 15 frames per second ! These two single frames of many were extracted from the video sequence using K3ccd tool. The next transit of venus will be in the year 2012 . Return to "Planets"
