NGC4565

Ngc 4565 is a large edge on Spiral galaxy located in the constellation of Coma Berenices. It makes for good viewing in a 6" or larger and can even be seen in 3" scopes in good skies although It takes a 6" or so to really see the dust lane !This photo was taken with the 11" scope in fair skies. It is a twenty minute exposure on Kodak Gold 400. I have also taken a photo of this object with the 8" scope and do not see much difference although the exposure was shorter with the 11". It has a total integrated magnitude of 9.6 and makes an excellent spring and early summer target for observers !
