NGC3115

NGC 3115 better known as the "Spindle" galaxy is located in the constellation Sextans.it is currently classified as a Lenticular Spiral (S0), if the disk was not perfectly edge on to us, it would probably be classified as an elliptical..No dark lanes or mottling are visible in this galaxy just the obvious spindle shape.Visually in small telescopes it looks like an elongated smudge of light that shines at around magnitude 9.0.This image is an 8X240 second exposure taken with an MX7c ccd camera and Celestron Ultima 11" scope using AA 3.0 and Star 2000 to selfguide.
