M88

.. M88 also known as NGC 4501 is a galaxy located in the constellation Coma Berenices that comes in around magnitude 10.5. It is fairly bright in small scopes at the nucleus with an outer envelope of nebulosity, though kind of vague. The outer envelope of nebulosity seems to be just out of reach with the 8"scope from within the city. With the 11" I have caught just a glimpse of the nebulosity. This photo was taken with the 8"scope at f 6.3 for 15 minutes on Kodak gold 1000. The image was resampled to increase size, still just a hint of spiral structure is shown though the nebulosity is apparent!
