M66

M66 is a galaxy located in the constellation of Leo the Lion. It is one of three that can be viewed in a single low power wide field view. It shines at magnitude 9.3 with some detail slightly visible in an 8"scope. I expect the same detail can be viewed with smaller apertures from a good country location. This image is a 10 minute integration using" track and accumulate" at f3.7 with the 11"scope and the SBIG ST5C ccd camera. Its size is 9.5'x2.3' and displays a definite spiral structure !
