Jupiter

Jupiter image taken with the 11" scope and ST 5C cdd camera. This is a .01 second exposure tri color image which produces a "true color" image though variance in exposure lengths thru red, green and blue filters lends to the planet having some hues which may not be quite accurate from a visual interpretation. Different films are also more or less sensitive to different colors ergo the old saying that "practice makes perfect" certainly applies to photographing the heavens whether with a ccd camera or conventional astrophotography. The image of Jupiter below was taken on a different night with a slightly longer exposure of .03 second and a Barlow lens. I suspect {or at least I hope}that with more and more practice the images will show more detail !
