classes for fewer. Maximum number of students is 25.
Please contact me if you have a different idea for a class
in mind, as I am very flexible and willing to work with your
guild to come up with a workshop that you will all enjoy.
Normally, I teach 2 day workshops in any location that is
more than a 3 hour drive from Southern Connecticut. If
your location is close by, I will teach one day classes as
well.

TWO DAY WORKSHOPS
|
8 From 1: Intensive Flower Cane Workshop
|

You'll learn the
techniques I used to create all of the flowers shown
here, and even some that are not in the photograph.
All you have to do is change the colors of your blends
and components and you can create an infinite array of
flowers to use in your designs. |
How would you like to learn to make 8 different flower
canes from ONE skinner blend? In this intensive
caning workshop you'll learn just that. You'll make
realistic-looking rose and daisy canes, tiny accent
flowers, flowers with spots, variegation
stripes, "folded petals" and several other designs.
This class teaches the fundamentals of caning and
skinner blend manipulation. Learn to tint or "shift"
the color of your blends, choose the best translucent
clay for "caulking" the canes, fast and easy cane
reduction with very little waste, and cutting thin
slices. At the end of class, students can swap pieces
of their canes so they can leave with a whole bouquet
of flowers. (Note: we can take some time in this class
to arrange the cane slices into tiles or beads, but
the class is mainly focused on making the canes,
rather than using them.)
Cost: $125 per student for 2 days
instruction, plus $5 materials fee

Floral Tile Jewelry Construction
and Design Workshop
On the first day of this class,
we will make a rose or daisy cane (students' choice), leaf cane
and backgrounds for our tiles. The caning portion will cover
building, reducing, and slicing the cane, as well as skinner blend
manipulation. On the second day, we will use our new canes to
design and assemble gorgeous tile jewelry to make bracelets, pins,
earrings, pendants and more. In the process, you'll learn to
make your own sizing templates to make uniform tile beads that are
the right width for any size bracelet. You'll learn finishing
techniques, texturing, drilling. (Note: You should be able to
finish a pendant and/or set of earrings, or at least 3 tiles for a
tile bracelet. All steps to make the tile bracelets will be
covered, however time constraints may not make it possible to
finish one.)
Cost: $125
per student for 2 days instruction,
plus $10 materials fee

Tile Bracelet Design and Construction
In this class, you will
learn to design, size and assemble a gorgeous tile bracelet using
nothing but polymer clay and a bit of elastic for the materials. In
the process, you'll learn to make your own sizing templates to make
uniform tile beads that are the right width for any size bracelet.
You'll learn finishing techniques, texturing, drilling and you'll
leave the class with the beautiful bracelet that you can adapt for
any type of tiles to show off your work. Tiles can also be adapted
to be pins, earrings, pendants and more...techniques for doing so
will be demonstrated at the class.
Cost: $75, plus $10 materials fee

Flower Cane Basics
In this class, you will learn
the basics of realistic flower caning, cane reduction and slicing.
The class can be designed around building either a rose cane or
daisy cane, plus you will learn to make a corresponding leaf cane.
Learn to use skinner blends in your flower canes for beautiful
shading, make good color and clay choices, and learn tips and tricks
that will make your canes more beautiful and realistic.
Instructor will also demonstrate making arrangements with the canes,
and students can swap pieces of their canes at the end of the
workshop so that they will leave with a nice collection of flowers
to use in their work.
Cost: $75 plus $5 materials fee |
