These are some of my basic Machine Knitting patterns for Standard Gauge Machines. 4.5mm Just highlight cut and paste to copy.

Pattern File Name: V Neck

Hip Length, straight pull over with ribbing Moderate taper sleeves. Key hole front neckline flat back neckline. Loose fitting

Size: Standard Woman 40 xxl*                                  

 

GAUGE DATA:

   Gauge (Stocking Stitch over 4 in = 10 cm): 32.0 sts by 36.0 rows.

      Body knit by Studio using TD4

      Ribbing knit by Studio using TD3.5

 

 

NOTE:  At most, 178 needles are required to make this garment.

 

BACK:

1.  Cast on 178 sts in MY, using TD3.5 and closed edge method.  Work in 1x1 rib for 30 rows.  COR.

2.  Change to TD4, reset row counter to 0.  Work 152 rows. 

3.  Mark this row at both ends for armhole.

4.  Work 84 more rows.  Total 236 rows. 

5.  Back neck.  Thread center 56 sts onto WY.  61 sts each side.  Knit 6 rows with WY.

 

FRONT:

1-2  Follow steps 1 and 2 as for back.  COR.

3.  Armhole.    Mark this row at both ends for armhole.  Work 14 rows ( 166 rows total).

4.  Shape neck.  COR.  Cast off center 8 sts.  85 sts each side. 

5.  Right neck.  LH needles in HP.    Work 48 rows even at center for keyhole opening.  Next row: for bottom of neckline, thread the first 13 sts at neck edge to WY.  Dec 1 st at neck edge every row 11 times, until 61 sts remain.    Work 11 rows even.  Total 236 rows.

6.  Cut yarn, leaving a 44.0 ins end.  Work 6 rows WY.  Place sts in HP.

7.  Left neck.  COL.  Work as for right neck,  reversing shapings.

 

SLEEVES:

1.  Cast on 70 sts in MY, using TD3.5 and closed edge method.  Work in 1x1 rib for 26 rows.  COR.

2.  Change to TD4, reset row counter to 0. 

3.  Inc 1 st at each end of every 3rd row 33 times, then every 4th row 8 times to 152 sts (131 rows total).

4.  Work even to total 134 rows.  COR. 

5.  Cast off loosely. 

 

SHOULDER SEAMS:

1.  Graft shoulder seams on 61 sts.

 

SINGLE BAND COLLAR:

---  Worked in 2 pieces.

1.  Bring out 64 needles to HP.  With wrong side of work facing, rehang 13 sts from front neck holder, 23 sts from right front neck edge and 28 sts from back neck edge to center.  Hang weights.  Push needles to FWP, latches open.  Use TD3.5 with COR. 

2.  Work 12 rows.  Convert to 1x1 rib.  Cast off loosely. 

3.  Work the left side the same way as the right, picking up the back neck sts first.

 

BUTTON BAND:

1.  Start with left front for girls/women, right front for boys/men.  Using TD3.5 bring out 60 needles to HP.  With wrong side of work facing, hang sts (approximately 1 sts for each 1 rows along keyhole edge) between bottom of keyhole and top of collar band.

2.  Work in  1x1 ribbing  for 11 rows.  Cast off loosely. 

3.  Mark positions for 3 buttons, the first one 0.5 ins above the band bottom, the last one 0.5 ins below the band top.  The rest should be evenly spaced between these two, approximately 2.1 ins apart.

 

BUTTONHOLE BAND:

1.  Work buttonhole band as for button band, working buttonholes at the marked positions.  Check your machine knitting reference book for techniques.

2.  Sew buttons at marked positions on the button band, being careful to align buttons with buttonholes.

 

FINISHING:

1.  Sew sleeve top to armhole, easing to fit.  Sew side and sleeve seams using invisible seam.  Sew any remaining seams. 

2.  Overlap and sew bottom of button bands to bottom of keyhole. 

3.  Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.

GAUGE DATA:

   Gauge (Stocking Stitch over 4 in = 10 cm): 32.0 sts by 36.0 rows.

      Body knit by Studio using TD4

      Ribbing knit by Studio using TD3.5

 

                                               NOTE:  At most, 178 needles are required to make the body of this garment; but the collar/hood needs 210 needles.

 

BACK:

1.  Cast on 178 sts in MY, using TD3.5 and closed edge method.  Work in 1x1 rib for 30 rows.  COR.

2.  Change to TD4, reset row counter to 0.  Work 152 rows. 

3.  Mark this row at both ends for armhole.  Work 78 rows (230 rows total). 

4.  Shape neck.  COR.  Thread center 62 sts to WY.  58 sts each side. 

5.  Right neck.  LH needles in HP.  Dec 1 st at neck edge every row 5 times, until 53 sts remain.    Work 1 rows even.  Total 236 rows. 

6.  Cut yarn.  Work 6 rows WY.  Place sts in HP. 

7.  Left neck.  COL.  Work as for right neck, reversing shapings. 

 

FRONT:

1-2  Follow steps 1 and 2 as for back.  COR.

3.  Armhole.    Mark this row at both ends for armhole.  Work 32 rows ( 184 rows total).

4.  Shape neck.  COR.  Thread center 24 sts to WY.  77 sts each side. 

5.  Right neck.  LH needles in HP.  Dec 1 st at neck edge every row 12 times, then dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 12 times, until 53 sts remain.    Work 16 rows even.  Total 236 rows.

6.  Cut yarn, leaving a 39.0 ins end.  Work 6 rows WY.  Place sts in HP.

7.  Left neck.  COL.  Work as for right neck,  reversing shapings.

 

SLEEVES:

1.  Cast on 70 sts in MY, using TD3.5 and closed edge method.  Work in 1x1 rib for 26 rows.  COR.

2.  Change to TD4, reset row counter to 0. 

3.  Inc 1 st at each end of every 3rd row 33 times, then every 4th row 8 times to 152 sts (131 rows total).

4.  Work even to total 134 rows.  COR. 

5.  Cast off loosely. 

 

LEFT SHOULDER SEAM:

1.  Graft shoulder seam on 53 sts.

 

SCOOP FRONT NECK SINGLE BAND COLLAR:

1.  Bring out 210 needles to HP.  With wrong side of work facing, rehang 6 sts from right back neck edge, 62 sts from back neck holder, 6 sts from left back neck edge, 56 sts from left front neck edge, 24 sts from front neck holder and 56 sts from right front neck edge.  Hang weights.  Push needles to FWP, latches open.  Use TD3.5 with COR. 

2.  Work 10 rows.  Convert to 1x1 rib.  Cast off loosely. 

 

RIGHT SHOULDER SEAM:

1.  As for left shoulder seam.

 

FINISHING:

1.  Sew sleeve top to armhole, easing to fit.  Sew side and sleeve seams using invisible seam.  Sew any remaining seams. 

2.  Darn/weave/sew in all loose ends.
