August 2007 News
Hi Folks,Welcome to the August 2007 newsletter. Although it's been a slow summer for VW shows in SoCal, I hope you're finding lots of opportunities to get out and cruise your VW. IVVWers have been taking advantage of the few local shows offered, including a recent club caravan to the VW Drag-In at Fontana Speedway. Alone or together, enjoy your Volkswagen!
Oktober Volksfest 2007 is Taking Shape
At our July meeting, we began preliminary planning for our upcoming 5th Annual Oktober Volksfest, which will take place on Saturday, October 13th. At the time of this writing, we are still in the process of securing a location for the event. IVVWers have expressed a preference to make this year's Volksfest a more picnic-oriented event. To that end, we're scoping out a couple of city parks as possible locales. I'm working with IVVWer Mark V. on this, and hope to have locked in a location by the time of our upcoming meeting.
Ideas and Possibilities
A number of suggestions for club-related activities have been made recently by IVVWers, including a caravan to a drive-in theatre, another cruise to BFY and the Orange Circle Antique District, and a beach cruise. These are all great suggestions. Please bring your good ideas to our IVVW meetings; this is the best venue for generating a group discussion and making concrete plans. We value your ideas, and want this to be a member-driven club. If you'd like to suggest (and possibly organize) a club activity, bring it on!
Club Regalia
We'll have our full assortment of club regalia (shirts, hats, patches, pins, etc.) available for purchase at our upcoming meeting. Pictures of our regalia are posted on our club website: http://www.ivvw.org. Also, a few IVVWers have been asking about ID badges. These are very nice looking plastic pin-on badges with the IVVW logo and your name embossed on them. If you're interested in purchasing one, we'll be taking an order for them at our upcoming meeting.
Annual Dues
To officially join IVVW, we ask that you donate $25 as an annual membership fee. Your donation gets you an IVVW sticker for your car in your choice of colors, and a beautiful members-only logo pin. Dues are always voluntary, but they are what allows us to continue to provide the high quality of club events, merchandise, and regalia that we do. Dues can be paid at any IVVW meeting or event. If you'd like to become an official member, or if you're not sure when your annual membership dues are due, ask IVVW Treasurer Paul W. at the next meeting.
Upcoming VW Events
There are a number of upcoming VW-related events on the horizon, including Familienfest 13 in Vista in August, the Pomona Swap Meet in August, and the So-Cal Vintage VW Treffen in Anaheim in September. Be sure to check the IVVW Website at http://www.ivvw.org regularly--Webmaster Rob G. is constantly updating the events calendar.
Website Updates
Is your car's photo missing from our website? Would you like to update it with a newer picture? Do you have information you'd like to see posted? Do you have suggestions of any kind for the website? If you answered yes to any of these, contact our Web Guru, Rob G. at MrGarretsn@aol.com.
IVVW Forum
I've noticed postings on the IVVW Forum have been few lately--I'm not sure why. The Forum is a great way for you to share your ideas, sell and trade VW-related stuff, and inform folks about VW-related events. Visit the forum at http://www.ivvwforum.com
August Meeting
Our August IVVW meeting will take place on Saturday, August 11th at our usual locale, Bobby Baja's Mesquite Grill, 8916 Foothill Blvd. (corner of Foothill Blvd. and Vineyard Ave.) in Rancho Cucamonga. Tire kicking begins at 11:30am, and the meeting follows immediately after. Among other things, we'll be firming up plans for our Oktober Volksfest event. Hope to see you at the meeting!
