Spotsylvania Jail (1855)
The Spotsylvania Jail at the Courthouse is open by appointment. Call Bob Kurtinitis at 582-8016.
SPFI is restoring the jail as a museum, featuring its role in county history.

   Winter Membership Meeting

Please plan to join us SUNDAY, MARCH 4, at Salem Church Library, from 3-5 p.m. for our Winter Meeting.

We are pleased to have Prof. Douglas Sanford, Chairman of the Department of Historic Preservation at the University of Mary Washington to speak to us about a project for which he has received a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities. He is studying "Slave Housing" in the Chesapeake Region.

This is an opportunity that you will not want to miss. You will also be able to meet our new president, Kira Fredenburgh, and new Board Members.

The President's Annual Report - 2006

The year 2006 was another year of progress for the Spotsylvania Preservation Foundation Inc. (SPFI).   We have completed all planned feature reproduction work on the Spotsylvania Jail (1855).  The Foundation continued as a vigorous advocate for historic preservation and encouraged citizen participation in the county debate of several issues affecting our historic resources.
