DANCING
what'sHere
Dances, of various kinds, listed in calendar order. These are dances that members of the Charlottesville jamming community either dance at or play the dance music for, or both. Either way, they have fun. Be sure to get in touch with the contact person before going to a dance for the first time, in case times or locations have changed.
EVERY SUNDAY NIGHT
Ceili, Contra Dance, or Barn Dance at Greenwood

- 1st Sundays:
- Ceilis are held on the first Sunday of every month, and are open to all, and beginners are encouraged to attend. All dances are called; most are taught--and all feature live music. The Blue Ridge Irish Music School holds special event ceilis several times during the year, with coveted callers and musicians from faraway (Timmy "The Brit" McCarthy is a regular visitor and caller/musician).

- A monthly dance in the tradition of the dances held in this
area many years ago! There will always be hot old time music, a
community atmosphere,

Renaissance Dance
- 1st and 3rd Wednesdays, 7PM, Charlottesville Music & Arts Center.
- No admission, but donations to cover the cost of the hall appreciated. Primarily English Country Dance of the early seventeenth century and Italian dance of the late 16th. No experience required, no partner required.

- The dance starts at 8 PM with a beginner lesson at 7:30. Come as you are, wear soft flexible shoes for dancing, and the caller will teach each dance. Winter Sun Theater, South Locust St., downtown Floyd. Come to dance or come to listen - no partner needed. Admission is $7.00; for information call 745-3908.
